Holidays are meant to be celebrated. In our family we celebrate both Canada Day and the 4th of July. Our beloved Basset Hound Daisy was born on Canada day, but because she was American, we’ve always celebrated on the 4th. Daisy passed 2 years ago, but we still celebrate her on that day.

This year, instead of a whole week off, we only have an extra long weekend. Wednesday to Sunday. No work, no schedule. Just enjoying the weather. Plenty of time to rest, get some fun outdoor activity and get some work done around the yard. AH! Fun in the sun.

The week started with chilling and tubing down a river with my family. followed by lots of kayaking, Kangoo jumping, yoga and some yard work.

At night, we enjoyed a family campfire, roasting marshmallows and hotdogs and playing charades.

It was a great few days connecting as a family, reducing our screen time. All in all, it was just what we needed to recharge our batteries.

Im looking forward to many more days off this summer connecting with my family.

What are your plans for the summer? We would love to hear from you.
